FLONZI is a non profit incorporated society established in 2006.

FLONZI is represented on the New Zealand Horticulture Industry Training Organisation (NZHITO) advisory committee by Joy Knight. The NZHITO annually holds the “Young Horticulturist of the Year Competition” (YHOTY).

In 2010, Jessica Mills, from Lovell’s Flowers 4 You, Hawera, represented FLONZI at that competition which attracts major sponsors from within the horticulture industry and considerable prize money. More details can be found on the NZHITO website. NZHITO also plays a major roll in New Zealand offering apprenticeships in Floristry up to level 4 in conjunction with FLONZI.

The competition to select a  FLONZI representative at the 2011 YHOTY was cancelled due to the February earthquake in Christchurch. However plans are under way for a  selection competition to be held at the Ellerslie International Flower Show In Christchurch, March 2012.

Membership of FLONZI is open to all persons or organisations associated with the flower industry. Applications for membership are to be made in writing to the Society Secretary on the FLONZI Membership Application form.
